Kimis Plumeria our nursery is a Grow More Fertilizer Research Farm.
Being a Research Farm qualifies Kimis Plumeria Web Group to have an available
staff of plumeria experts that can provide you the plumeria grower
with the latest scientific information, technical advice, growing
methods, presented in an easily understood format for the beginner
or advanced plumeria grower.
Plumeria Research Results:
For the past six years we have been conducting trials on a totally
different approach to growing plumeria out of their native tropical
environment in sub-tropical Southern California. This goal solely based on
plumeria nutrition and not growth inhibitors has resulted in a more heat and
cold tolerant compact plumeria tree producing more flowering and branching.
This has been done now consistently for the past four years however this
past two years has been outstanding in every aspect of the work.
One
of the main nutritional ingredients for our trials is a low middle number
fertilizer (P) with ample major and minor mineral elements. Never in
Horticulture Science has the need for a "high middle number" (high phosphate
(P)) fertilizer been established and there is no scientific evidence written
for the amount of phosphate needed for a plumeria to flower. The facts point
to many more elements and nutrients that do more for the flower cycle than
phosphate (P). It is a proven scientific fact that high middle number (P)
contributes to the stretching of plant growth both in greenhouse and outside
conditions as does an over abundance of Nitrogen (N).
For the sake of the environment Kimis Plumeria Web Group has been
promoting less phosphate use for many years and there are many who have not
acknowledged the call or efforts for a better environment. Our photographs
from past seasons will give the grower adequate assurance we are plumeria
experts based on factual scientific research not the "STATUS QUO HIGH MIDDLE
NUMBER" that is being preached by today's plumeria societies, forums and
plumeria information web sites. The following pictures from past seasons will give the grower
adequate assurance we are plumeria experts based on factual scientific
research.
All plumeria information points to
this variety as a very robust grower however with lanky growth habit. These
are results from our low middle number research regimen.
The following pictures show the drastic change in growth habit after
applying the new regimen. Note the stretch typical of the Spidery Yellow on
the lower area of the trees and the dense canopy developing at the top. On
close inspection note the multable inflorescents'.
Blush Pink
The variety Blush Pink has been in
cultivation by us for forty years although severely damaged by a severe
freeze several years ago (22F). The two original trees now are recovered and supplying us cuttings. This tree variety is
known to be a very open grower and a loose canopy when mature. Note the
difference in branching when different nutrition was applied. We use no
additives such as "Bonsai" growth inhibiter or any other chemical growth inhibiters
or enhancers.
